So, I'm sure a lot of us are excited but concerned about how the Olympics will treat the "breaking" category. I'm sure it will increase the interest in our culture, but at what cost? In the 80s, the culture burned bright with media interest, and then burned out. Will this happen again, or will an organization such as the Olympics have more of a long term effect on us.
One of the biggest things to consider will be judging. How do you judge a piece of art? You can easily judge how many air flares someone is able to do, but throw in Megus or Abstract, and you're in a whole world of hurt. The best b-boys/b-girls have their own style, with moves that no one else in world can or will do. The problem with figure skating or gymnastics are that the routines are rated before they are performed, whereas breaking is spontaneous, so that won't do.
Furthermore, if the Olympics tests for PED or weed, there goes 90% of the competition, haha. Anywho, thread is open for discussion. Go wild.
